Author : Steve Hanafi (Silat Sharaf Practitioner, Malaysia)

Lockdown driving you mad and bored? Madly bored? You’ve binge-watched so many Netflix series you’ve forgotten what’s the title of the one you’re watching now, spent countless hours on Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok that you’ve even thought of uninstalling them, yet never did.

If you’re scrolling through your Instagram feed and would love to see some good reality-based martial art and self-protection content, then we’ve got a few that are sharing the best videos and posts on training. You can try searching on IG for Martial arts or self-defense, and you’ll get yourself roughly over 7.9 million posts (if not more) using that hashtag. That’s a lot, and trying to pick the best pages from those can be exhausting. So, we did the work and brought you the best reality-based martial art training pages on Instagram. The instructor doesn’t necessarily have to be an elite-Black-Ops-top-level trainer though, the military train for war, and rules that don’t apply to normal civilians. They don’t face the same consequence killing enemies to defend themselves as civilians do. As we were saying, reality-based, not fantasy-based for armchair Rambos.

Here’s a list of the 5 BEST reality-based martial arts pages on Instagram

The system is based on the traditional Indonesian martial systems which were developed uniquely to kill, capture, or control sophisticated and trained opponents…not just run of the mill muggers. The system is simple to learn, extremely aggressive, and forward thinking so it adapts to the time and environment. An awesome combination of the past and the present. What we love about his Instagram page is that the post would first introduce the situation that has occurred either to LEOs or civilians and then he’ll show response options that best suit the situation. It’s not made up scenarios, but scenarios that have HAPPENED in real life, and then you’re taught to look at a perspective on how you can best tackle the situation. Excellent work officer!
