5 Things You ABSOLUTELY MUST Do to Survive the Coronavirus Pandemic

When it comes to the survival of the fittest, its either do or die

Writer : Steve Hanafi (Silat Sharaf Practitioner, Malaysia)

Amidst the global scale pandemic, the chaos, from one country to another, from one continent to another, as it spreads throughout the globe and as the world slowly goes mad, how do you keep your sanity? Keeping your head up during disaster is easier done by actors on TV than it is in real life.

Here are a few pointers;

1. Be ready for the possibility of things going real bad real quick

Shit can get bad in a matter of seconds, minutes, or days. Be ready. Mentally prepare yourself for the worse that can happen. There’s no need to panic, amidst the chaos, the one thing you need to be is calm, strategic and organized. You make mistakes when you’re panicking and not thinking right.

Chaos can happen in a blink of an eye

1.1 Stock up your needs

If you’re stocking up, stock up your supply enough for 3 months of use: month one is lockdown, month two is assuming it is extended and month three is in the event that you run out of cash and luxuries and you gotta survive with the basics. Also, have a Bug out bag, vehicle and location prepared just in case things get out of hand. (we wrote about this in our previous article)

1.2 Hone your skills

Get fit, Covid thrives in weak bodies, get ready for war. War with the virus. Do everything you can to get your body strong, inside and out. Next up, your combat skills. People are dangerous when they’re desperate, so prepare for a fight when you need to. Not to forget, your survival skills. Understand how to use your environment and tools to clean water, and use whatever makeshift gear you can find to use for your own survival.

2. Plan out everything ahead

Plan out on secondary locations how to get there, how to communicate, how to get essentials, who/what to protect. Stop being an indecisive bitch and start making decisions. Take charge and decide. A decision no matter how bad it is is better than no decision at all. It might not go exactly as how you planned it, but at least you’ve got plans. Remember, being proactive is better than being reactive.

Visualize possibilities, actions, and decisions. Visualize what you’ll do if your plan goes down the drain. Have pre-emptive actions in case what is mentioned happens. Deciding before the event happens can save not only your life but also your loved ones as you mitigate the chances of being hesitant.

3. Stay healthy.

In times like this, being sick is not an option. Do home workouts. We have a library of solo drills and workouts that you can check out. You can even visit our page on Instagram and Facebook to get some simple daily workout for you to do in your living room. And for god’s sake, run! Also, eat good food. If possible, -avoid processed foods.

4. Trust no one

Don’t reveal your resource, your firepower, your stock to anyone. Guard your Operational Security (OPSEC). Opsec is a military term used to identify critical information that if the information is leaked to other sources, can be a threat to the operation, in this case, your resource, your safety. Even when they’re your neighbor, remember this, when stocks run low and humans are desperate, they’ll do anything to survive. “No crime a man will not commit to saving himself and his hungry family”.

5. Stay sane, calm and positive

It’s easy to be overwhelmed with negativity after watching 6 hours of Covid-19 news. Watching the numbers increase, added with constant pressure. Also, when you go online and all the news is talking about the number, the death toll. As we said, don’t let your emotions cloud your decision-making ability. One who cannot control their emotion instantly loses in any situation. If your thinking is still clouded, get in a dark room, list down all of your worries and start visualizing what are the next steps that you will take, one by one.  As the saying goes if you can do something about a situation, why worry? And if you can’t do something about a situation, why worry? Focus on the things that you can do and start doing them immediately.

When it comes to a global-scale pandemic like this, it doesn't matter how the virus was made and what conspiracy is behind it, what does matter is how to survive from it and how to save your family and yourself. Some of the best human traits are revealed when people work together as a community in times like this. Unfortunately, the worst human traits are revealed in such times also. If this is how people are acting now imagine when the lights and water go out and things get more desperate. Hook up with TUS members offline and get to know each other’s families and locations so you can assist each other when and if needed.
